Offinso, Ghana
“500,000 children still remain out of school because of resource constraints in building schools, providing adequate textbooks and training new teachers.” I read this and know we are making a difference. I read this and feel blessed to be part of a team that is building the most state of the art school in Offinso, Ghana. I read this and can’t wait to see the faces of 100’s of children attending their first day of school in Fall of 2010!
Ghana has been wanting, needing and praying for change and Chiropractic for the World is making that difference. It’s overwhelming to see and hear the responses we’re getting from chiropractors throughout Canada and the US wanting to support us and join us on our mission. Not only are the chiropractors stepping up, so is their team. We have a group of CA’s now donating monthly!
As a foundation, not a day goes by that we don’t feel blessed to be working with such amazing people. The workers in Ghana have been tirelessly going and the school is looking fantastic. The recent pictures are proof that every dollar we give is being well spent.
“…Just wanted to let you know that at our staff meeting today I
informed our team of our commitment to Chiropractic for the
World Foundation and gave our team a little background on what
you guys stand for and your vision and mission, passed out the
brochures etc…At the conclusion of the meeting two of our CA’s
verbalized their desire to pledge monthly to Chiropractic for the
World. An amazing gesture from our team…” Dr. Hulbert, Calgary, AB

Happy Spring!
As we move forward with our first project in Offinso, Ghana, Africa, we are realizing that building a school in a third world country is not as easy as 1, 2 and 3! However, we see the big picture and know how far reaching the lives of so many will change once they hear the message of chiropractic.
STEP 1: EDUCATION, EDUCATION, EDUCATION
Creating a safe and secure elementary learning environment is our #1 goal. Adding eager students wanting to learn is our #2 goal. Topping it off with chiropractors making regular visits, teaching the principle, giving life enhancing chiropractic adjustments, inspiring students to become chiropractors….. PRICELESS!
As of today, the rooftop is secured, the classrooms are being completed and now for the finishing touches….
School Bus: 25,000
Ceiling (T&J plastic) 7,820
Flooring and Tiles 12,000
Painting 2,580
Furniture (150 tables and chairs) 7,500
Toilet and Urinary 13,400
Pavement blocks and lawns 7,000
Office Equipments 1,900
Total 77,200
Funds are coming in and we are so humbled by the generosity of chiropractors. We thank you, the workers completing the structure for the school thank you and the future students are already thanking you! We have received several emails to date from prospective chiropractic students in Ghana eager to help our vision come to fruition.
Please spread the word and donate now!
With love and appreciation,
Dr. Janelle Bohemier, Vice-President
“Thanks you for the project you have started in Ofinso. Its quite a masterpiece and I believe it will go along way to help the people in Ghana. I also believe through this project the people will come to understand and receive chiropractic through both educational and health wise.” ~Samuel (prospective chiropractic student)
“ I know that the Lord won’t let us down even though it is simply not easy and needs a miracle of God’s love to really concretise the opening of the School next September.
I look up to heaven hoping to hear some good news from whoever. May the Lord bless you all.

Here is Dr. Robert Champagne’s recent account of his inspiring and transformative trip to Ghana in April 2009.

GHANA 2009

In late 2006, Dr. Paul Bickert from Kelowna, British Columbia, approached me to help him find a group of chiropractors that could help him fund a school project that he had been supporting in a rural area in Ghana, Africa, where the illiteracy rate is very high and the people are very poor. A big part of his plan was to also make chiropractic accessible to the people in that area. His request stirred something deep inside of me. We then co-founded the “Chiropractic for the World Foundation”.
Our foundation’s vision is primarily focused on getting chiropractic out to parts of the world that don’t have it available to them… on a permanent basis. By introducing chiropractic health care to developing nations, we expect that some of their people will be interested in chiropractic enough to want to become chiropractors themselves. In turn, they could then bring the gift of chiropractic back to their own people. Our foundation will also fund scholarships for prospective chiropractic students.
In April, 2009, I went to Africa with the intention of experiencing life in Ghana, seeing the school project, and introducing chiropractic to as many people as I could during my visit. I really wanted to get to know how these people live and feel. What a different world from ours!
I gave Father Moses, my Ghanaian host, his first adjustment ever when I first met him. He was very excited about chiropractic. He said that he felt really alive for the first time in a long time after his first few adjustments! He kept telling everyone about how adjustments release the life energy in the body. He wanted me to check everyone… and that’s pretty much how the next ten days shaped up! He gave me the opportunity to speak to his church about the relationship between chiropractic care and overall health. In his words, via email to me once I was back in Canada:
“I do not know what to tell you. My heart smiles with the words I AM GLAD KNOWING YOU. The first time you touched me on the Chiropractic Bed (table) in Accra, I had such a big relief from the flow of the energy. I always like to use my time to work or do something. But it seems I don’t have the power. So I always have some sort of stress everyday. After the first adjustment I was really bouncing like a well-fed baby. The fact is that I was a new person in mind and body.”
Everyone would hear the chiropractic explanation before getting an adjustment and I would very simply explain chiropractic in this way:
“You were created to be healthy! Your body is a self-healing organism.
Your body is constantly changing every moment you are alive! There are only two ways that your body can change in any moment: you can either get a little STRONGER, or get a little WEAKER. For example, if you exercise, you get stronger… if you don’t exercise, you get weaker. If you eat good healthy food, you grow stronger… If you eat junk food, you get weaker. If you have happy, healthy thoughts, you get stronger… If you only have negative, angry thoughts, you get weaker.
Your brain controls and directs all parts of your body. Nothing in the body works unless it is connected to your brain through your nervous system. Therefore, if your spine is misaligned and putting pressure on the nerves, this reduces the life energy flow to your body, making you grow weaker… spinal adjustments help balance your spine, increase the life energy and the result is that you get stronger and healthier. Overall, our goal is to have you become a little stronger at the end of every day. “
Chiropractic makes so much sense to most people in developing nations, because they believe in all things natural and innately understand the fact that the body is a self-healing organism. They really understand the relationship between chiropractic care and their health, especially when chiropractic is kept very pure, simple and affordable!
Throughout the duration of my stay in Ghana, I was feeling so grateful to be able to offer these people the gift of chiropractic… I often had tears in my eyes because it felt so special to be able to adjust these people… I felt very blessed for that opportunity.
On one my first days in Ghana, after I had explained chiropractic and adjusted a young girl in her early 20’s (of course for the first time in her life) she got off the table, looked at me and asked in broken English: “What would I have to do to join your team?” (meaning to become a chiropractor herself!) Several others also asked me how they too could become chiropractors. I was thrilled to see that my mission was being accomplished… to have some of them pursue chiropractic as a profession and bring this gift of chiropractic to their own people! Teaching the people how to fish!
What an experience this trip has been! My life was touched by the warm welcome and friendliness of these beautiful Ghanaians, and in return I was able to touch the lives of many people with their first adjustment ever! This trip made me extremely aware that people in developing countries are so ready for what chiropractic care has to offer… health from the inside out! It was an amazing experience and I am planning to return in the near future with several other chiropractors.
Currently, our foundation is growing fast, with chiropractors donating regularly towards our ongoing outreach projects, currently focused in Ghana, Africa, with plans to eventually reach out to other nations. Many of the donating chiropractors will be eventually participating in future chiropractic mission trips.
